Creating premium spaces, sustainable environments and stunning homes for over 20 years.

Somerset Development Group was established in 1999 as a boutique developer of luxury homes. Since that time, we have expanded into multi-story luxury apartments. Somerset have developed luxury homes and apartments in one of Sydney’s most desirable areas. Our homes and apartments have been purchased and enjoyed by some of Sydney’s
highest profile business people and celebrities.

Beyond just constructing buildings,
we aim to cultivate communities where residents feel a true sense of belonging and connection.

Meet the team

Executive director

An Estate Management Graduate and Chartered Surveyor from the UK, Mike became the founding Director of the Australian operation of Chesterton International in 1987.

Following the success of Chesterton International and after branching out into boutique residential development in the late 90s, Somerset was founded in 1999 to fill a gap in the marketplace for bespoke luxury residences on Sydney’s Lower North Shore.

Somerset became the largest controlling shareholder in Chesterton International (Australia) which it sold in 2015 to the ASX listed company Transfield Services. Somerset then focused on the development of luxury residences, townhouses and apartments in Sydney.

Mike’s strong background in major capital transactions, finance and development continues to drive growth and innovation.

Project Director

Rod joined Somerset in 2006 following a career in IT and then Supply Chain Management.

Bringing strong organisational skills and a passion for construction and innovation, Rod is responsible for the delivery and quality control of projects and post-completion servicing to ensure meaningful and enduring relationships with Somerset’s clients and consultants.

Director of Interiors

Maryanne joined Somerset in 2003 following a 2 year global tour during which she worked for Vogue London and the international law firm Skaddon Aaps.

Her passion for design led her away from the corporate life and into further study of interior design. She then completely immersed herself in the world of interiors for residential development.

Maryanne’s style is bold and adventurous. From P&O to Grand Federation to Victorian to contemporary, she is constantly pushing the boundaries.

Her projects have been featured in most industry magazines and more recently on ABC’s Restoration Australia.
